with Cloud Innovation

How Alibaba Cloud and MOI brought seamless broadcast innovation to the world’s biggest stage.

The context

The Paris 2024 Olympics set a new benchmark for international sporting events, where technology, sustainability, and inclusivity converged on a global scale. As an official cloud services partner, Alibaba Cloud wanted to showcase its revolutionary broadcasting solutions, which promised to redefine how millions around the world experienced live sports.

The challenge

Broadcasting the Olympics is no small feat. With multiple formats, diverse devices, and millions of viewers tuning in from different regions, ensuring seamless coverage is paramount. Alibaba Cloud needed a compelling way to bring their tech story to life—demonstrating how their solutions enable broadcasters to deliver flawless, scalable, and secure experiences.

To add to the complexity, the campaign had to align with the grandeur of the Paris 2024 Olympics, amplifying Alibaba Cloud’s innovation while capturing the magic of the Games.

The solution

MOI created an experiential activation, “La Rivière Alibaba Cloud,” at the Paris Olympic International Broadcast Center. Drawing inspiration from the River Seine, the multi-zone exhibit mirrored the iconic opening ceremony location and celebrated Parisian landmarks.

The results

The experiential zone attracted over 10,000 visitors, including more than 24,000 Media Rights Holders, showcasing Alibaba Cloud’s innovation in an interactive and engaging way. Attendees participated in over 2,200 interactions with Cloud Bao, enjoyed 5,500 VR kayaking gameplays, and created 5,200 AI-generated postcards and stickers, with 8,000 collectibles redeemed. Social engagement reached new heights with 27 million impressions and 180,000 new followers across platforms.

The business impact was equally impressive, with over 500 qualified leads secured—more than triple the benchmark—and extensive global media coverage from over 70 outlets, including BBC, Les Echos, and NHK. This activation solidified Alibaba Cloud’s position as a trailblazer in the cloud technology space.
